Atlantic R2R is made up of two best friends, an ex-solider and serving soldier, and a father and son, who both work in the hospitality industry. Three of the team live on the Isle of Skye and one in Fort Augustus. They all hold in common a drive, competitiveness and will to find and test their physical and mental limits. The majority of the team living within a 20 minute drive of Talisker Distillery the main title sponsor of the event what better place to test and push these limits than the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge!
Although the team come from various backgrounds, the combined qualities, skills and experiences of each team member makes for an exciting, cohesive and competitive ocean rowing team. Having strong military and seagoing connections this also provides an amazing opportunity to raise funds and awareness for two chosen mental health organisations close to their hearts, Rock2Recovery and the Sailors Society.
The current world record for a team of four is 29 days 13 hours and 34 minutes set in 2017. As a Highland team coming from the home of Talisker Whisky, Atlantic R2R are challenging themselves to complete the row in under this time.
